Artwork (Crab) prop 2008 Chingay Parade

What do you think about the crab prop that I had done for the 2008 Chingay Parade I think this is possibly the most difficult prop with about 20 sets with it ten hands twisting and turning.

I was involved with finishing the props with the help of the prop group. Take a look at the photo. Hope that it can trigger the interest and imagination of the children with it colours and reflections.

My artistic prop creations Chingay 08

Hope you can come down and take a look at the Chingay Festival, particularly the lobster props. We are trying hard to maximise the effects of the colours, lights and reflections of the props.
This year will be particularly significance, as the show will be telecasted to numerous of countries.
I can only go down to help out only when my wife was not working. Later an old prop member asked me to bring my son along, they will try to take care of him there. As my passions is in craftwork, I am involved in technical things for lots of years.
I hope that this will be the very best Chingay Parade.
I had done some finishing for the lobster props, hope that later more innovative ideas will come out.

http://www.jeffooi.com/2006/05/disneyland_in_southern_johor.php

I was fascinated by the Tokyo Disneyland, especially the space ride and the roller coaster inside a darkroom , which sometimes you need to wait for one hour plus for the rides.

Johor PM going to Japan Disneyland discussing with their Officials.

Now there is a possibly the Disneyland been built at Johor. So those who are fans of these fantastic ride, don't need to travel to Japan for these rides.

More people maybe able to experience the thrills of their life?

A spectacular invention

Don't miss pictures, this invention that could solve the world energy crisis and climate changes.

Normal people use both hands and both legs to ride a bicycle.

This person had invented a method of cycling, controlling & braking a normal economical bicycle even under challenging conditions using only one leg, which is 75 percent reduction.

Rapid industrialisation of China and India had causes fuel shortage.

Could this person discoveries, using less energy to ride a bicycle, be the answer to the world energy and environmental crisis, as shortage had cause record fuel prices .

The Xiaxue and Steven Lim interview with the TV comperes

Don't miss this interesting video. After watching the video, it seems like Steven Lim and and Xiaxue would be cast as a model couple after some quarrel had made up. It was difficult to know were they putting up a show.

I think People Association might consider and made into a show to encourages singles to married, with models like average looking guy Steven Lim in the beginning had some problems with and went after average looking girl Xiaxue.

After overcome some problems and got married.

At first you might thought that they seem like getting at each other with some vulgar words thrown in, what a turn of events. It seems in the TV interview with Desmond Koh and Quan Yi Fong, they had make up again. It look interesting.

Watch this awesome world tallest building in video

A special dining experience at the man made cave

I visited Taipei in the midst of the approaching Typhoon Wipha. Watch this amazing video of Taipei in the midst of Wipha. Fortunately Wipha was not that heavy in Taipei. It was much stronger when it approach China and did extensive damages.

I had my two umbrella damaged by the strong winds.

Fortunately the tour guide didn't cancelled the day trips as it was raining heavily. My previous experiences in tours they use to cancel the trips if it rain heavily. It was a memorable experiences, walking a few hours at Shinlin Night Market on my own.

The tour guide put me along at Ximenting with heavy rain falling and strong winds. There was a vast varieties of shops with lots of lights and colours.

Taipei had lots of pets shops. One whole floor of shopping centre was catered for mobile phone users. I brought some leathers goods

Wow, I saw 110 channels of TV in my hotels, lots of interesting programs.

Inspite of the circumstance I am happy with my this trip.

NSF for Ladies

Ladies no offense, I always felt that the ladies should be given a few months of NSF, so that they can be better appreciate the guys difficulties. The training should be structured to fit the ladies, it's likely to be non combat type of duties and complement the guy duties.

As a result of these innovative ideas, because of the ladies contributions, guys might be able to join the workforce earlier. In the future ladies could be more productive and play a better role in societies, supporting their husbands and better mothers etc?

Cpl Dave Teo

From Dave Teo circumstances, he might had suffered from paranoid schizophrenia at that point of times, after months of depressions. The combinations of family problems and jilted by his girl friend drove him to do irrational things.

Men can do crazy and irrational things because of girls. I had seen a person because of some remarks on his girlfriend, rushed home to get a knife to threaten the person.

The thought of been betrayed by his girl, could had drive him to the brink. He might be thinking of ending somebody life and his own life.

As manifestations of his karma, made he felt that life is hopeless.

The spectacular crowd-pulling getai show

Last night I went down to the getai show at the neighbourhood & tonight they promised a even better show, more famous artistes from around the region to perform. This show with the inspirations from the best selling movie '881', attracted the largest crowd and was the most innovative ever as long as I remember.
I went down to the show which was quite late at that time at nearly 9 pm, even that I seen artistes from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia & China etc.
The Thai top male artiste was the most flamboyant pelting out songs from a varieties of dialects including Malay song, changing his flamboyant costumes a few times during his performance.
The lady Indonesian singer was the most conservative with her varieties of Hokkien ballads, requesting if you like her songs, buy her CDs which she brought along.
It seem like the ladies are getting sexier with their costumes. I saw a young girl with so little clothes on her, it seems that she was performing with a bikini and with tattoos all over her body.
A beautiful lady in black and white wowed the crowd with her costume specially designed to suit her dancing routines, captivated the crowd with her body swaying in the a well rehearsed routine. In the middle of her singing routine, she took some requests from the audiences.
I saw a Hindu, seem liked captivated by the show, I don't know did he understood what they sang.
The China lady singer took as many requests as possible, as she was the last one to sing. Her voice was quite nice to listen to.
I saw a lady brought along her own music programs to play and ask the sound technician to play to harmonise with her singing, without using the stage musicians. It might develop to a stage where artistes bring their own computerised visual effect programs to harmonise with their performances.
Overall I felt the standard had improved over the years, as more competitions from around the regions raised the standard.
Getai show had came a long way. Last time the audiences used to climb up the stages to watch the show, some stages collapsed as a results.

The secrets of how to ride a bicycle handfree and using only one leg in marathon

For a person who start to learn cycling, he got to fell down a few times before he can master riding a bike. After he master ride a bike he would like to do more difficult feats.

Of course the exhilaration master riding the bicycle is difficult to describe.

I was able to ride a bike hand free, with only one leg about 12 kilometres( around 45 minutes), navigating obstacles like a person riding a bike normally using two hands and two legs.

To master such amazing feats. I started by with doing simpler feats, like riding the bike hand free for hours rounds and rounds the basketball court, turning left and round and round turning right hand free, until I am well verse with it, and then using only one leg and hand free doing similar process and progress to the more difficult feats.

The type of bike use should be only one speed where they race indoor.

And practice until my hip able to control the direction of the bike using only one leg.

Thousands of Woodsvilles Secondary School & Primary school students seen me practice there every day for few years.

The foundation was laid, for me to be able to do such amazing feats.

In my youth before I went to school, everyday 365 days every morning at 4 am I got to cycle from Mattar Road to Sims Drive through and forth from my home in a tricycle carrying heavy loads of foods , putting his bike on top of the tricycle and his mother sitting behind to the hawker centre , then afterward rush to Upper Aljunied Technical school with my bike.

Because of these tough training, I able to do amazing feats with a bike.

Rain or shine even the tyre was flat, I needed to do it 365 days to support my family of 6 and also 4 nieces and nephew. My father had died when I was few years old.

After that I shifted to Sims Drive. Everyday after helping my stall. In the afternoon I went to train up to 4 hours in Woodsville Secondary School. These went on for a few years in hoping to be a world record holder.

And also because of my ability to maintain my bike in tiptop conditions. Which I had learn from a old bicycle repairman since when I was a few years old.

For some good causes

Nowadays it seem that there a lots of news about the freaky weather conditions. Heavy floods in lots of place. Is these the signs of times to come. Recent reports of more frequent serious floods is a wake up call for us to take a more serious look at these issues. Global warning might had caused it.
Could these be the industrialisation of China and India, imagine 2 billions people changed the habits suddenly and their impact on the environment.
More innovative ideas and inventions needed to harness and store the sun, wind, sea wave, waterfall power etc.More or better incentives and awards for these type of inventions.
In Europe they were putting more automated bicycles dispensing booth for people and tourists to rent bicycles, to reduce air pollutions and traffic congestion's.
These computerised bicycles booth, where people can borrow and return anywhere where there are a bicycle booth. It was a good idea.
More bicycle friendly conditions need to be created, to encourage the use of bicycles.
I got a call from the President of SBOR, they were willing to sponsor a bike for me to join a group cycling program. I went to search for a bicycle shop areas around my housing estates for more than 1 and the half hours, I can't even find a bicycle shop. The program were later called off.
The last time my tenant left a bicycle, when she left. I used it for a while, I cycled for a while and it had some problems, as I can't find a bicycle repair shop. So I got to stop cycling then.
More enlightening ideas needed to offset it, as it will have a serious implication on everyone of us in the future.

Insiders actitivities of public listed companies

I think insider trading activities should be made more readily available to the public. By observing the insiders (senior management of the public company), more or less the public can make better informed decisions.

Insider trades is an key indicator of the health of a company.

By observing the buying and selling of the senior management of the companies, more or less the public can find out the latest trends and health of the company.

If lots of senior management of the company selling out, means something wrong with the company.

Minorities shareholders were disadvantaged because they don't had the info of the senior staff of the company had.

I had received some annual reports. Taken note of the coming AGM meeting in the coming few days. I would like to go down for the AGM meeting to get a better feel of the company and talk to the CEO and ask some questions.

By going down to the company we can find out lots of things about the company. Some of them thought investing in stock is like gambling, of course there are some elements of risk involved in any form of investments. To be successful to find a valuable gem in the mine, need lots of research.

To go down to AGM mtg is a step to find out more about the company progress. It's difficult to get direct answers because they can't disclose any confidential info. Frequently by talking to the senior management through my observations can bring surprisingly results.

I can feels more of less the direction of the company. And the indication the company is it getting better or not when you talk to the senior staff of the company. There things we can't just read in the annual reports or through the news, we can find out when go down to the company.

A nerve-racking experience riding a 360 degrees roller coaster in the darkroom

See my very thrilling ride inside a dark room on a roller coaster. It was one of my most nerve racking adventures, especially during the part when the roller coaster turning upside down, with your head facing the ground. All of us kept shouting loud to stop our fear as it kept twisting and turning round and round.

When you decided to go to the Tokyo Disneyland you got to go there early, because it was so popular, later groups and groups of students will arrives in school buses, you got to wait longer for the more exciting rides.

Wang Say So's interesting post featuring me on the topic of happiness.

In the article of: http://mrwangsaysso.blogspot.com/2007/05/how-to-set-goal.html/,
featured me on the topic of happiness, success and setting goals.

Generally speaking I am referring to the basic requirements of to be happy. ( Good health, sufficient money, a good spouse and a happy family).

A person can be successful but unhappy. A person may not be consider successful but happy. Success is subjective, different people has different views on success.

Mike Tyson may be consider successful as he able to earn $300 millions but unhappy. See the way he spent his money until he was bankrupt, he might be trying to buy happiness with money.

With all her glitter and glamour, happiness had eluded Princess Diana.

Freddie Mercury lead singer of Queen, with the most popular hit in the world(We are the champions) with all his talents and success, died of Aids at the age of 39 gave away all his money, altogether $50 millions to charities.

I had known numerous unsung heroes who live a simple, unglamourous life yet they are happy.

Contrary to what Mr Wang say, I do set specific goals, at this juncture of my life most of my wishes had came true.

Lee Hong Yi, the prime minister's son

Of course being a prime minister's son had privileges. Lee Hong Yi recent case, which he emailed to the top about an AWOL case, had garnered such widespread discussions. Because he is the prime minister's son, scholar and potential prime minister.
I served my National Service as a typist. I used to typed the charge sheets for numerous AWOL cases. Most of them never got so much attentions. Some of them were so serious that, it seems that they can forget about having ROD as they kept repeating their AWOLs and being detented again and again. After the detentions, they still got to continue to serve their remaining NS.
The less serious cases were usually put in the camp detention barrack and their hair cut 'botak'. The serious cases were sent to the Provost Unit. I had brought back some cases from the Provost Unit to my camp. These cases were usually hard core cases, to continue to serve their remaining NS.
On one instance I type the charge sheet of a very serious case, I typed until my hand ached. Because the person was charged with so many cases about 9 charges. Each of the charge I got to type 7 copies(6 were carbon copies).

A simple and cost effective idea to improve the performance and life span of your computer

To run your equipments optimally, you need to maintain it properly. Whether computers, hi fi or TV.

One of TV lasted a whopping 11 years, using this simple idea, I learnt from my years experiences from maintaining the machinery. I felt this piece of equipment give me the best value.

Mind you, my son watched it at least few hours per day, some time from morning till night, the picture quality is fantastic, after had I sprayed it with an electronic contact cleaner. It neutralised away all those foreign materials that stuck inside the electronic circuit board, which implede it performance. After running 11 years the TV technician said it was beyond repair, the juice already came out.

Shops that sells electrical equipments and usually have electronic contact cleaner.
The water vapour, air pollution, which settled on the printed circuit board caused it to rust and the performance to deteriorate, from the chemical reactions, and need to be neutralised.

You don't don't need to do it a lot of time, one or two times can do the job. You will see the difference. It will last longer and performance better.

8 years ago my wife bought an inexpensive VCR for my son to watch children materials, after few years of usage, I decided to spray it with an electronic contact cleaner. After the maintenance, Wow I discovered a substantial improvement in the quality of pictures it produced. My wife still use it as a spare for my younger son to watch the children programs. Normally low cost VCRs don't produce fantastic pictures

By using the electronic cleansing agent it can really improve the performance of the electronic equipment. It neutralised all those water vapour in the air that caused rust in the printed circuit board and the foreign materials e.g. dust that stick to it.

It is a simple, inexpensive yet a brilliant idea to maintain all your electronic equipments, even one or two times in your equipments life-span, can save you thousands of dollars and other opportunities costs. It is simple yet an effective way to improve the life span/performance of you electronic equipments.

The electronic contact cleaner, neutralise the negatives elements in the printed circuit boards like dust & rust, which caused by the water vapour in the air, thereby improve the electricity conductivity of the printed circuit board. As a result improve the performance of the equipments and extend its life spans.

How to do it:

Removed the cover, use a good brush to clear off all the foreign particles in the circuit board. Spray it with electronic contact cleaner, wait for it to dry. By following these tips, you will see astonishing results.

The principle is quite similar to bicycle problems. It need to spray the chemicals to neutralise all those negative substance that settle on it, and immediately see an improvement, etc rust which caused by oxidation by the air, the air pollution also affect it.

My years of tinkering with machinery and electronic equipments. I found these process the most cost effective way. It is simple don't lots of technical know how. It will give years of trouble-free usage of your electronic equipments.

An amusing statement

The funny part of this story, was when 'ang moh' sausage seller asked Lady TV compere did she want(to buy) his sausages. Few days ago while watching this TV show on (Searching the red ball contests), I came across this interesting part, which I found amusing.
The team who who find the most balls across Singapore is the winner of the contest.
TV compere was supposed to look for a red ball in Chinatown. Then she finally found the location.
It was inside an ang moh sausages stall at Chinatown. After some conversations ang moh sausages seller, ask lady TV compere does she want his sausages, Lady TV compere jokingly replied she want his ball too. Sausage man was surprised. Later TV compere clarified she is looking for the red ball in his stall in a TV contest. She seem like trying to crack a joke.

My most memorable cultural performance

Hope to share my experiences in the Cultural Shows. The South East Asia Games Grand Finale, was my most memorable cultural performance. Various time I was able to used my experience & trainings in my youth, to possibly change the outcome and enhanced the entertainment values of the cultural shows.

Since 1987, I had participated in altogether 25 various large scale cultural performances, like the Singapore National Day Parades, the Chingay Parades, the South East Asia Game & the Youth Peace Cultural Festivals etc.

The whole groups of people from different age and backgrounds working together for peace always intrigued me.

The final rushing into the stadium to perform always set my adrenalin pumping. The spectacular firework always fascinated me.

I used to do lots of somersaults and tried various difficult gymnastics moves in my primary school days, and in my secondary school days I was a member of the school gym group.

These experiences in my younger days, let me able to numerous times contribute and advice some of the younger & less experience trainers.

In 1997 Chingay Parades, I was able to used my experiences to last minute, to redo almost all the props and to maximise the entertain value. http://chingayparade.blogspot.com/

In the 1993 SEA Games Grand Finale our team were to put up 10 (4 layers human towers) together with other types of human towers and other group gym display items.

For a person to sat and stood up carrying a person on your shoulders was no easy task.

So for the years of my experience joining all these mass display item. I would sometimes share my experiences with the less experience trainers.

The top layer- one person, 2nd top layer 3 persons, sit and stand up carrying one person, third layer 5 persons sit and carry altogether 4 persons up, the bottom layer 8 persons, need the safety officers support and to push the buttocks of the third layer up, as the bottom lays carry altogether 9 persons on their shoulders and hold them until the show end.

After pushing the button of the third layer up, the safety officers were to hold the kneel caps of the third layers and straighten it and not to let it bend and shake.

Our tower eight was the first to put up, subsequently it kept felling down even during the Preview. After some members of our group, had left to join other groups. It was very frustrating as the tower kept falling down.

In this type of human pyramid. It's very much depend on the weight of the persons on top of the shoulders of the persons who carry him on their shoulders. Training can only do that much.

Frequently in my childhood days during the school recess and after the school end, we used to played carrying each other on top of our shoulders and moved around with it.

Through my experience I found that the lighter the persons the more easily, I am able to move around. The experience and training in my childhood days set me in good stead later, in helping various cultural performances.

Numerous times I used my experiences to directly or indirectly assisted the various Cultural performance trainings.

Because the trainer is very young, and with little experience. He got difficulties understand the problems.

Through my experiences I share my ideas after our tower fell down on the Preview.

Finally the top trainer came down and made a few changes, and in the Grand Finale of the South East Asian Games, all the towers were put up successfully.

The hilarious condom joke

On my sea ride from Hong Kong to Guangzhou on the hovercraft. There was a movie to encourage the use of condom when making love. It featured comedian Eric Tsang and Tien Niu making love. Eric Tsang was tipsy at that time. Tien Niu at first did not directly asked for a condom kept signalling Eric to get a bag in Cantonese, she thought Eric understand it.

It was a hilarious situation, Eric kept misintrepreted it and brought various types of bags to her. A last finally Tien Niu got to tell Eric directly to get a condom. It was so funny everybody kept laughing .

Moral of the story use condom when make love.

Singapore National Day Parade

Hope to share some of my ideas of putting up on how to put up a 5 layers human tower. Singapore NDP had not put up a five layer human tower since 1983. Through my involvement in the gym since my Primary School days and various 25 large scale cultural shows- They may want to adopt some of my ideas.

At a hotel in Xian China, they were struggling to put up a 3 layer human tower. I went forward and gave a notch and help to push a person's buttock up to help him to stand up, they were surprised by the move.

My suggestions on putting up a five layer human tower.

To put up the five layer tower, we need to solve the third layer first. The third layer is the most critical of all the layers. It need to climb up to the second layer shoulder, sit on it and stand up with the top two layer on top of their shoulder, that is four persons(top man & 3 second layer persons). With no assistance from the safety officer.

To train these three top layers first will solve most of the problems, first choose the lightest persons to put on the upper layers. They use to put only five persons on the third layer, which is not enough. The third layer got difficulty to stand up with five persons, with the equivalent of nearly a person on their shoulders and stand-up. I suggest increase to 6 persons.

These 6 persons or the third layer, should be given the most attentions. They should be the persons to train first in order to build their endurance and stamina. Ask them to go back home do so extra sit- up with weight training or put weight on their shoulder to train. These will solve the problem.

I used to find that they spend to much time training the bottom two layers, which doesn't matter so much. If overexert they usually at the later part of the training doesn't have much energy. So it defeat the purpose.

Because the safety officers can compensate their weakness and support them. To sit and stand up with a person on top of your shoulder, train a few times exert a tremendous amount of energy it can be very tiring.

Few of them are not regular. So sometimes they come, sometime they don't, make the training of the bottom 2 layers difficult. This could neutralise the effect of training.

To assist the 2nd bottom layer, two safety officers to support one bottom second layer person.
One person left and another right. One hand support the second layer person left buttock and another right kneel cap.

Then help to push his buttock up for him when he going to stand up, one hand to hold his knee cap, so to not to let it bend and another to hold heel, after he stand up to reduce the pressure on the shoulder of the bottom layer. If possible the safety officer body to stay as close as possible to the person he is supporting, so he can utilise his strength most and don't allow the second bottom layer sway too much which will affect the upper layers.

Usually the swaying/unbalance of the the persons in the sitting positions moving to the standing positions cause the fall of the towers due to the imbalance of some of them standing up, some slower some faster and the upper layer tilt to much to one direction( due to fatigue or not enough strength).

The safety officers play key role, he got to ensure all of the same layer move up at the same time. His one hand got hold the buttocks of the second bottom layer, so to absorb the pressure of the 3 upper layer on the legs of the second bottom layer, the equivalent of 10 person weight on the shoulders of the second bottom layer.

I saw some of the second bottom layer legs shake when they stand up, the safely officer got to help them to straighten and lock in their legs with another hand. The third layer must not worried about their lower part, so that they can concentrate on their upper part. The key role of the safety officer is to stabilise the second bottom layer. Tips on how to improve and get the most from your cycling

Lots of people like to ride bicycles, many have difficulties in maintaining and bring out the best of their bicycle and cycling experiences. Some spend lots of money to reduce weight and get fit.

I use to ride hours at East Coast Park with only one leg. Below are the secrets of bring out the best of your bicycle:

You can enjoy your riding , improve your health and watching the beautiful scenery at the same time. Very soon you will not even know that you had been riding for hours because time past so fast.

This method is good for those who don't have the much discipline of regular exercise. And wish to stay healthy and fit.

A few factors affect the smooth running of a bike. At heart of the wheel, which the ball-bearings were support by two nuts from both sides, the nuts should not set too tight, if too tight the bike difficult to move, too loose the wheel wobble.

The ball-bearings needed to spray with the aerosol base chemical to neutralise the negative effects of foreign materials and deposits a thin film on the surface. It needed to be sprayed regularly because very soon rust and foreign particles will accumulate to retard the smooth running of the bike.

The rim the spokes from both sides need to be set so that when it turn, it won't till too much to one side and not wobbling.

And spreading of special lubricants on all the moving parts.

It's the same principles whether apply to cars or printing machines.

If done properly the machinery will run in tip top conditions, with the little energy.

To test the principles.

When a bicycle is not maintain for a certain periods of times. The wheels is much more difficult to move.

The bicycle repair shop will use a U- shaped device to check the alignment of the rim and use a small wrench to adjusted the tensions of spokes of rim, back to its shape and adjusts the nuts of the shafts of the wheel accordingly and lubricate it.

After that when he turn the wheels it seems like the wheel can turn perpetually with little effort. If the settings done at its best.

It runs much faster and longer.

That's why I can ride my economical bike with only one leg and without using his hands to hold the handlebar, long distances and navigate through obstacles just like a normal persons riding a bike normally. See photos of amazing bicycles feats, click recordbreaking feats.

It will be more safe to ride a bike if is well maintain as less energy need to ride it. I had spent most part of my life finding ways to maximise the the use and potential of machinery.

As India and China industrialise, there will huge demand on oil.

With Singapore targeted population of 6.5 millions and 17 millions tourists. These will put more pressure on the demand for space, oil, transport & the environment etc.

More innovations and creatives ideas is need to cope up with the changes.

Hope that more people use bicycles as their mode of transport, because of today rising oil price, it's good to the health and environmental friendly.

What's your feedback?

Humorous comment by Kenny Sia

While browsing the internet, chanced upon these very humorous comments by Kenny Sia, Quote:

(Travelling by taxis in Indonesia can be quite risky. At the advice of kennysia.com readers, I was told only to travel in those blue "Blue Bird" taxis in Jakarta.

Terrible name. If this were in Kuching, no chance in hell is a taxi called "Blue Bird" is ever gonna last long.

I mean seriously, not a lot of Kuching folks would feel comfortable sitting in some Lam Jiao taxi right!?

"Blue Bird" may be a horrible name for a taxi, but they are the only one with a good safety record around here.

They are so good that some of their competitors had even painted their vehicles blue to confuse people.

Yea, nowadays you can even get pirated Lam Jiao taxis.)

Happy hours @ People Association

I had many interesting and memorable times at the PA.

They used to organise a wide varieties of interesting activities for singles each month. I always look forward for the new Channel Magazine they sent me each month, which listed almost all the interesting activities all over Singapore to stay connected.

You name it they had it. Whether you want to go travelling, discos, camping, karaoke, tea dance, cooking, ice skating, learn some new things & dancing classes they have it. We are able to join the community clubs in different parts of Singapore.

Some of my most memorable and happiest activities were my two days trip to the Batam kelong. The sunrise, sunset, the moon in the middle of the open sea, spicy fresh sea foods made one of my most memorable trip.

Usually the dancing classes were fully booked. No wonder the ladies are such good dancers. On one occasion when I received the channel, straight away I sent my check to PA for the intermediate class, it was rejected because it was already fully booked. It was so popular it was fully booked even before it was open to the public.

Every Saturday there was usually a disco program at a hotel in Orchard Road at a favorable price for PA to practice our steps. Sometimes I went down. At one instances, when I invited a lady to dance.

Wow! That was a fantastic experience of my life, the lady dancer was better than me in dancing. You might thought as a man I had no problem in throwing her around, but the opposite was true.

She would throw me round and round, we were dancing one hour plus non-stop, my whole body were sweating so profusely. Obviously the lady was very experience at dancing.

My shirt was wet with my sweat, the edge were coming out, some parts where torn, trying to catch up with her and the disco tempo were so fast I couldn't even had the time to think of my next step. She kept throwing me, I kept following.

It was one of the most vigorous activities of my life. The encounter with the lady dancer was so dramatic and hectic. I was frequently grasping for air, lost a shirt button, but fortunately not my pants.

When I reach home after some time my whole body and bones were aching from the unexpected workout.

Some of the more interesting activities was an outing at the Pasir Ris resorts. It was an overnight affair. We would chit-chat with the ladies till the wee hours and adjourned to the nearby beach at Changi to continue our conversations watching the beautiful sea.

There were a combination of karaoke, disco and swimming at the resort. The sound system were blasting out songs near the swimming pool. With whole loads of fun and activities.

At one outing in St John islands, we got to build the camps ourselves, and participated in lots of games.

Unfortunately PA cut us off when we were married. I think we should be continue to be able to participate, because there is such a wide varieties of activities for us to choose which they were able to put together in a single magazine for us to choose to enjoy and socialise.

Because PA had such a huge contact with lots of organisations, so organising lots of different activities is not a problem.

It's difficult to find in other areas. Not all them went there to look for partners, they joined it because some of their activities are interesting to them. I felt that some ladies came here more were interested in the activities than finding a partner.

The People Association put together such wide varieties of activities it like, at least one or two programs, that are interesting and to learn something each month.

If at that time blogging were invented, it will be more interesting, after the activities we still be able to stay connected and know more about each other better through blogging.

A stunning breakthrough

Years ago, I was working in the press. On the cover of the machines there were inks and chemicals which had sticked on it for lots of years, it seem impossible to remove. I am able to finally removed it. After moving the stains on the cover it look almost as new and shining.

These incident had attracted the attention of a Japanese teacher, I don't know how he got to know about it and he was so impressed, he brought his whole class of students to study it and compared the machines which had the stains removed and the one which had not removed.

Imagine the surprise the stains that had been there for a lots of years suddenly were removed. You can see the amazement on their faces, when they compared the one which had the stains removed and the one that were not removed.

After months of finding ways to clear the stains, through continue experimenting and finding the right chemicals to clear irremovable stains, I finally found a concoction of chemicals, that able to remove most of the stains. The chemicals were able to make the cover look shining.

I used the hand washing agents combine with kerosene and some other chemicals. (Hand washing agents is not normally used to clean the machinery)

As after the stains were removed, everybody were stunned because the stains on the cover of the printing machines were there lots of years and were thought to be impossible to remove .

Secrets recipes for cooking yummy chicken rice and steamboat

Some of Singapore most favorite food are chicken rice and steamboat.

My mother had been cooking for more 50 years, she use to cook very tasty soup for us. I had since learnt some secrets from her.

I believe the best steamboat should be cook in clay pot using charcoal, this way is much tastier.

And tip into the fried shallots oil with soya sauce that I mention below. Nowadays because of convenience it is usually cook by gas and metal utensils which don't bring out the best of the soup.

The soup will be more tasty, if you don't mind spending some time using more elaborate procedures.

My all time favourite dish is chicken dumpsticks cook by my mother. Usually during the Chinese New Year reunion dinner where she will prepare my favourite food- chicken dump sticks(a bit raw).

An old chicken seller, teach my mother to cook the best chicken rice it need to a bit of raw and not to overcook it. So that when you eat it, it will be very smooth.

The fried shallot oil is the key to bring out the best of the flavour, with light soya sauce and sliced spring onions, putting the all together in bowl. Which is use as tipping sauce for the steamboat and chicken.

To cook the sliced shallots to perfection. Burn the wok hot. Then put the oil in, throw in the sliced onion. Cook until it is yellow, stop the fire, it should not be brown, if not the after effect will made it sour.

This combination of near raw chicken and fried shallot oils, will bring bring you to the heaven state.

My feedbacks/ideas were adopted

I sometimes send and shares my ideas to the medias. Zoe Tay and some of the media artistes might not exists in the media today, if I had not send my suggestions to the then Singapore Broadcasting Corp.

Years ago I had sent my suggestions to Singapore Broadcasting Corp. (presently Mediacorp) , to set up a contest and that give generous incentives, to winners of acting contests to draw out talented people to come forward. Later they widen the talent pool, drawing contestants from overseas.

In my younger days, I read widely. I love to read about the life stories of great people. My hero were Thomas Edison whose inventions made the world a better place to live. Henry Ford for his mastering of the art of mass productions of cars & Florence Nightingale for her profound dedications to the sufferings and the sicks.

I had replied to an MP, as the MP had wrote to me for suggestions for bond the community when my wife got the PR, to built a 50 storey building to house multi-functional activities people to socialise, to bond the community near MRT.

My suggestions might had influenced the government, to allow the building of a 50 storey HDB with multi-facilities near Tanjong Pagar MRT station, at that I don't think they will consider such tall residential dwellings.

The a building a multi functional complex near One-North and Buona Vista MRT . Which can hold cultural, shopping, arts & musical activities etc

Long ago I had suggested making tourism as country main economic driver, now finally they had adopted the ideas. As tourism industries are sustainable and recurring in long run. And we need to continue to come up with fresh ideas to draw the tourists.

Our industries might had difficulties completing with India and China cheap, educated and large labour pool. The Bahamas, Las Vegas, Macau big part of their economy were driven by tourism. They too do not have much resources.

As I was greatly inspired by the works and contributions of the Nobel Prize Winners to humanity. I suggested giving numerous smaller awards, now I saw schools, always displayed their awards outside the fence in their banners.

I had wrote about building more library near the MRT for easier access. They are building libraries near Clementi and Searangoon MRT.

Sometimes ago I , Dee Kay & Nelson Poon discussing on building barriers on the MRT in the ping.sg shoutbox. Recently they started to build the MRT barriers.

In those days computers is not widely uses so its difficult to record down all my ideas or what I had contributed, or some of my ideas were adopted. Now I can write in my blog if I had some good and inspiring ideas.

HOW TO OPTIMIZING THE VISUAL EFFECTS OF PROPS (EMBEDDED TECHNOLOGY)

James who use to make lion dance and lanterns props in his childhood days, prepare the outline.

Our props group was to prepare the musical props for the performers. It was an exciting challenge to glue the synthetic foams to the bamboo frames nicely. Translucent synthetic foams were used to stick to the bamboo frames together, by hot glue using glue guns. Between the props and the performers lights bulbs systems were installed inside and the props were then covered by translucent clothes.

As I used to work as a welder and also as a printer in a major newspaper company. My experiences and skills were able to put into good use. I am able to use my skills which I perfected for setting the printing rollers in SPH.

I used to practice hours and hours setting, the printing rollers accurately by pulling 2 piece of paper out from 2 printing rollers from both, sides as great skill was needed to set the rollers accurately for the printing operation. Click
View Blog machinery

During the Chingay rehearsals numerous props were brought back with the synthetic foams sagging, as it was not
properly pulled and glued to the bamboo frames.

It's very difficult to glue it to the frames, lots of fingers were burned, trying to stick and pull the odd shaped synthetic materials tight to the frames and hold on it until it stick tight to the bamboo frames, with the hot glue. As the foams take some time to stick to the frames.

To bring out the best possible visual effects of the props. When gluing the foams, it need to stretch it tight to the limits, so that to allow the best possible
penetration effects of the lightnings system inside the props.

As time was short, I got to muster all my skills and experiences rushing from morning, till night to completely redo all the props for the grand finale.

Innovations in prop-making

Because of my skills transferred from the pulling out of papers from the printing rollers,
I am able to meet these challenges, to the stretching of the foam to the right tightness, which enhanced the overall appearance and special visual effects of the lightnings. Click here to see more of my innovations.

Lot of satisfactions, they were so impressed & fascinated with the effects of the props, it were displayed in the temple for months after the performance.

The tightness of the foams, the multi-colours & the blinking of the lights inside the props made it a extraordinary sights to view.

In the 2006 Chingay Festival, our group was to make 40 electronic dogs (green & orange colour) and 4 bones props.

After numerous difficulties trying to find a solution, to stitch the bone props foams together, because this time we didn't use any frames to support it. It's very difficult to hold the odd- shaped foam together to glue it with the hot glue gun and wait until it set.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to hold it together and glue it with the hot glue gun, trying various methods. We finally found a way using U-link wires to attached it to both sides and temporary hold it together, then apply the hot glue on it. After it were glued together, then removed the U-link wires.

To make forty electronic dogs for the students performers is no joke, all the different pieces ran into thousands. First I got use a blower to blow hot air onto the synthetic foams into various parts to shapes of different parts of the body and use my hands to hold it until it set into shapes. This process is too slow.

Later I found a way to increase the speed of doing it. By making wire moulds. Put a few foams into the wire moulds. This methods greatly increase the speed of making the props . This way more foams set into shapes much faster.

The idea of cutting a heart- shaped hole on the front cover chest foam and put heart shape translucent covers on it and put an electronic lighting device on it, initially ran into difficulties.

Later I found a way of cutting two pieces of thin synthetic foams made it into a heart shape glued it together put the electronic lighting device inside it, which able to fit into the foam (front cover of the performer) so to be able to take it out and replace it or change the batteries.

And cut a hole on it, so can switch on/off and the light, cut a hole in front so that the three little blinking light bulbs (red, yellow & blue) were able to put nearest to the translucent plastic cover, so to bring out the best possible lighting effects.

The synthetic foams were later sprayed with paint, scotch tape were use to stick on the surface to make it look glossy and prevent rain from damaging it. To tighten the tape so that, no trace of outline of the tape to be seen, a blower were use to blow hot air on it until it tighten and look glossy.

Various light reflective accessories
were later stick on it.

Series of small light bulbs which blink , were then installed on it and linked to the batteries pack on the belt. The sewing group were to make the uniforms for the performance. The foams were then attached to the uniforms. Electric motor were attached behind the back to make the tail spin. So it look like robot dogs.

Many graduates are now joining the prop group maybe due to the satisfactions of seeing their creations been appreciated, attracted them to join. Some of them stayed overnight, rushing to compete the props for the grand finale
Hearing people commended our props, brought me great satisfactions.
