My most unforgetable camping trip

Camping at Palau Tekong.

Together with classmates from other classes of UATS at East Coast Park/Palau Tekong

Recalling the incidents, that we were almost drown, sent shivers down my spine.

If not that we grabbed had a piece of  log, some of us might never see the light of the day.

Another children author Enid Blyton adventures series, except it were for real. I hope that the photos taken by Mike were still in good condition. He the only one to have brought the camera at that time.

Few of my classmates get together from other classes from Upper Aljunied Technical School, decided to camp overnight in Palau Tekong. They were numerous of us from different classes of Sec 3 and Sec 4 some outside friends of Kim Han and Jason .

We want to take a week camping trip, but decided to call it a day after five days. Because of the difficult weather conditions and we were worn out.

A schoolmate Kim Han's grandmother stayed there. He brought us to his grandmother's house to pluck some coconuts. I volunteered to climb up.

I climbed up on top of the tree and kicked the coconuts down one by one. I got bitten by some ants as a result.

A friend of Kim Han, who was not our classmates also came along, was so engrossed kept blasting and repeating the twin Ming Choo sisters,  songs again and again, which he got infatuated, with the recorder.

They were hot favourite at that time. In their heydays, thousands of youngsters were captivated by their mixtures of old hits and their youth and getai .

Nevertheless due to various incidents which our lives were in danger. Overall is still considered one of my happiest moments in my life and one of my most adrenalin thumping experineces. I had always recalled the trip. I was nearly killed.

Kim Han  warned us not to go to the stream nearby as there were crocodiles and the currents were swift, some were killed there.

There were reports in the newspaper that children were drown in the P Tekong sea.

After so many years friendships I still in contact with my classmate Mike. Which I recently met him at a shopping centre, he had married a Swedish wife. Jason a Malaysian married a Singaporean, usually the opposite.

We went to Changi for a Chinese New Year midnight Dim Sum dinner.

I love to read Mark Twain books on adventures. But my life was not less adventurous.

In an incident a group of us, decided to walk to a small island some distance away from the beach. It was low tide then, but things began to change swiftly the tide raised rapidly, suddenly we were caught stranded, with tide raising above our neck.

All of us were panic-stricken, we were grabbing anything whenever we can.

I thought I could be drowned. But luckily we found a piece of wood, so I and one of them, managed to paddled with our legs, safety back to the beach, what a close call. Fortunately, the few of us were not drowned.

Another incident is a group of persons who camp nearby, tricked us to go to a meeting with the promise of some free meals. Later we found out that they are having a dispute with another gang and tricked us there.

Fortunately there were no incidents.

I can still remember the immense pleasure of waking up early in the morning to watch the beautiful morning sunrise across the naked sea on the island and the atmospheric conditions, set to made it some of the happiest and most memorable moments of my life.

The rustic surrounding and calm, brought immense fresh memories.

It think probably it is because the air was least contaminated there.

As the night began to fall Mike took out a guitar and kept strumming and singing, together we joined in to sing chitchat till the wee hours.

His favourites are western ladies, so it was not surprised, for him to marry one.

As the night fall the amazing beautiful full moon came out. What an unforgettable experiences. Till today I still can recalled it.

Whenever I recalled this memorable trip I always remember the spectacular views of the perfect full moon seen on possibly the best place that is an island. This was the perfect time to go as this was the time when moon was full with the combination of the rustic circumstances.

In the morning we walk around the beach, its an interesting sights lots of creatures crabs, starfish and various other shellfishes were crawling around the beach, which is low tide and the water is quite clear. We can easily see fishes swimming around. We tried to catch some but in vain.

Sometimes we would trekked up the hills. Some campers prefer to camp in solitude surrounded by bushes. So they built their camps up on the hills with little campers around.

At the end of the fifth day the rainy weather condition worn us out. Some of us got to stand with the raincoat outside. The two camps we built simply doesn't had enough rooms for all of us. I had to go back home with my swimming trunks because all my pants were spoilt.

We planned to stay there a week but after 5 days we called it a day.

We cooked our own food there. Trying to set up fire to cook the foods were nearly impossible because of the windy conditions. Whenever I recalled the trip my adrenalin will started to pump.

Little did we realised before we started our trip that there were so many thrilling incidents.

The trip was just like taking a meal with many different tastes hot sweet, sour & spicy etc, with lots of ingredients. The drama was probably good enough for some exciting action movies, we had seen.

The anticipation of fun and adventures overided the concern for safety.

In case of those who don't. know about P. Tekong, it is Singapore 2ND largest island, it was used for training the army and is off limit in some areas. There were numerous reports of ghosts been spotted there.

For a group of like us teenagers to take a camping trip there on our own without any adult supervisions. I think I would not recommend it.

Education

It's a worrying trend that my numerous graduate friends of me either don't want to marry and doesn't want to bear children.

Might be due to fear of the difficulties or failures or have the courage to face the problems.

Some of my friends who doesn't qualify to enter the universities, anyway their parents felt that they should no matter what get a tertiary education, even their children is not qualified they would send them to an oversea education to get a piece of paper. Because societies emphasis on paper qualifications.

You can see numerous entrepreneurs, who didn't gone through the process. Suddenly got a Doctor title in front of their name cards, even they didn't went through the process, because they felt that is good to have a doctorate title when making deals or going to a meeting. And people would respect them more.

Robert Kiyosaki in his book Rich Dad, Poor Dad in his book said that. Educational institutions fail to educate a child in investment and money management.

Thomas Edison only had primary 3 education yet he became the greatest inventor. His curiosities and seeking mind got the better of his limited 'paper qualification'. He hope that his inventions can vastly benefit humanities.

Henry Ford also had little education, yet he is one of the greatest entrepreneur. He is able to put together a much better qualify team of engineers them him to work for him. And made some of the greatest production technology innovations in history.

How much is enough for living expenses

In the Sunday Times articles discuss about, how much is enough for living expense:

In the article, the discussion on how much is enough for a person expense, which drew numerous comments.
http://mrwangsaysso.blogspot.com/

In the forum of how much is enough is subjective. I knew a Malay guy. With the pay of $1200 per month, had 3 children and a wife to feed.

My brother in law with little educations, one person feed six mouths, my sister and his four children. Now all his children are grown-up and had good educations. He work 2 jobs a day time security job and part time taxi driver.

Mike Tyson made US$300 millions in his lifetimes. Still he became bankrupt and in debts.
Celebrities that went bankrupt:http://www.legalzoom.com/articles/article

In a Sunday Time article, a person should not overspend what he earn.

In Singapore you can hardly find a person starve to dead.

Stories on frugality:http://aol.fool.com/personal-finance/saving

Some made great fortune in their lifetime but at the end of their life end a pauper.

So the questions is to be successful is not much of how much we can earn, is how much we can save from what we earn.

The secrets of finding the first Singapore Olympic champions.

Singapore had never produce an Olympic champion. To produce an Olympic champions. Singapore got to get them early like China, start training the champions early, so that they are not distract by other things or worries.

I predict China will top the Gold medals Chart in these coming of Beijing Olympics.

Singapore used to be good in water sports like swimming and sailing. The next champion is likely to come from sailing.

More incentives to be given to families that had contributed to the Singapore sport medals tallies. Their children will get a head start if they want to follow their parents footsteps.

They also need top levels of competitions.

Coach that had coached champions to employ to coach them.

How to stay healthy, the secrets of healthy and long life

My formula for staying healthy is to take lots of vegetables, fruits and walk long hours.

I was born sickly and asthmatic and gave lots of problems to my parents. So staying healthy is very important to me.

Fitness Guru Jack Lalanne at 89 still wake up early in the morning at 5 to exercises two hour.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet.fitness/01/19/jack.lalanne.ap/

I used to spend hours and hours riding a bike at East Coast Park. In the morning I used to see people exercise regularly there.

I used to swim hours regularly in my younger days. Swimming involved the whole body and it is a good way to de-stress.

Yan can cook mother told him you can eat anything, but take lots of vegetables.

I once rented a place from an old man who was 77 years old, healthy and actives. Who regularly took bananas. He said eating bananas will make pass motion easier.

To stay healthy you need to do exercises consistently. Give yourself time to built up your endurance and stamina. Do not rush. Do not suddenly exercise vigorous then later stop for a long time.

Regular exercise is an insurance.

The Japanese have the most seniors citizens the secrets lies in the green tea, they drinks.
Green tea have the properties of removing those harmful substances from our body.

I doesn't like to get sick and I rarely get sick. As you know get sick is no joke. Even a toothache could cause you lots of pain.

I observed that the Chinese in the morning went to exercise carries a bottle of Chinese tea. I think Chinese tea is good because it clear away all those harmful materials in our body. Lot of them are quite old. I think their formula of been old and healthy is to drink Chinese tea regularly.

You can see many chinese top leaders in their eighties.

Japan have the oldest population, I think is the green tea they took.http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=+greeen+tea

I choose walking because it is easy to accomplish, I combine my interest in look at shops to exercises. Once when I was in San Francisco. I explore the Chinatown with an elderly couples. At seven o'clock pm they want to call it a day. So I miss the chance of seeing more things.

I prefer the walk as much on my own the explore the cities, I may not be able to come back to see the place again. So I need to see the place as much as I can.

Many might not had the discipline to do a vigorous workout. I recommend start your walking programs. You might later slowly build up to longer distances.

My routines consists of 3 day a week. of walking around the cities areas and shopping. I don't felt much difficulties. By walking around see new things time past very fast and make me feel happy.
